Building Images of Department of Marine Transportation, ITS, Surabaya

It is started with this question:

How can we become the most respected ‘maritime’ university in ASEAN to work for in 2023?

On the path to become the most respected ‘maritime’ university in ASEAN ten years from now, building images of Department of Marine Transportation, ITS from several perspectives i.e. students, junior staff, senior staff and management/ project partners could be an imaginative leap into the future.

What would you like to accomplish with your study at ITS?

Students explored what would they like to accomplish study at ITS. As a result, knowledge improvement in the field of maritime transportation is the most common opinion came from this category. The more knowledge, the more they can contribute in maritime sector, especially in Indonesia. To support this intention, good facilities, make relationship with student’s union from foreign university, students exchange programme and scholarship are necessary needed.

What would you like your class to accomplish this year?

From junior staff perspectives which cope with student’s point of view, facilities improvement for both research and educating activities such as classes, hardware and software are need to be achieved, because they intend students aware of latest issues related to maritime transportation. Number of research title from students, in addition, has to be increase due to lab-based education programme in ITS. Considering the rising number of new students in Department of Marine Transportation, adding number of teaching staff is expected to fulfill the scarcity of lecturers this year.

What would you like your education program to accomplish this year?

Education programme to accomplish this year from senior staff’s view are improve research relevance to industry and publications (lab-based education), teaching methods improvements and better scheduled teaching activities as well, internship at ASEAN countries, joint supervision of student’s final project and the rest is powerful administrative staff and less bureaucratic. In this category, building images of ITS become more general than other perspectives. Thus, these lead into what would department to accomplish this year at management/ project partners level.

What would you like your department to accomplish this year?

Management considers public awareness about the education of marine transportation and curriculum improvements as important issues. Associated with project partners plan, for instance, advise on laboratory’s equipment, establish relationship with ITS, and linking or integrating maritime development/ policy with logistics, ports, hinterland connection and intermodal, the education of marine transportation would be expanded. Since Department of Marine Transportation is still a new in maritime sector, recognition at level of either International or National (accreditation) is essential to come by in order to sustain the objective to become the most respected ‘maritime’ university in ASEAN.

Jl. Imam Bonjol No. 36, Surabaya – 60264 Telp. 031-5662409.

Apa sih visa Schengen? Visa yang berlaku untuk Negara-negara ini:
Belgia, Denmark, Jerman, Finlandia, Perancis, Yunani, Italia, Luxemburg, Austria, Portugal, Belanda, Norwegia, Spanyol, Swedia, Islandia, Malta, Estonia, Hongaria, Latvia, Lituania, Polandia, Slovenia, Slowakia, Ceko, Swiss, Liechtenstein.

Hal-hal penting terkait permohonan visa:
  1. Mendapatkan visa itu bukan hak. Jika permohonan visa ditolak, uang yang telah dibayarkan tidak akan dikembalikan;
  2. Perubahan yang terlambat atas tujuan permohonan visa tidak dapat diterima;
  3. Secara prinsip setiap pemohon wajib datang sendiri. Namun bila dari paspor anda terlihat sudah mendapatkan visa dari kedutaan ini dan memakainya dengan baik maka kewajiban menghadap ini gugur;
  4. Ada kemungkinan petugas imigrasi airport akan meminta anda memperlihatkan surat-surat yang terkait dengan perjalanan tersebut, misal: tujuan perjalanan, penjamin, reservasi hotel dsb. Anda harus punya sendiri fotokopinya;
  5. Permohonan visa harus diajukan kepada Kedutaan Besar Negara yang menjadi tujuan utama perjalanan atau yang akan dikunjungi paling lama;
  6. Jika tujuan utama perjalanan tidak dapat dipastikan maka permohonan visa harus diajukan kepada Kedutaan Besar Negara Schengen yang pertama didatangi;
  7. Visa multiple entry hanya bisa diterbitkan apabila sesuai dengan rencana perjalanan dan jika visa Negara lain yang akan dikunjungi telah diterbitkan dalam paspor;
  8. Jika formulir tidak diisi dengan lengkap atau dokumen yang diminta tidak lengkap permohonan visa tidak akan ditangani;

  • Dua pas foto berwarna terbaru (3,5 cm x 4,5 cm). Latar belakang warna abu-abu muda/ netral dengan ukuran wajah 70% dari foto tersebut. --> untuk ukuran foto jangan diremehkan, saya harus memotong foto 4 x 6 menjadi 3,5 x 4,5 karena menurut petugas, foto saya yang 3,5 x 4,5 memiliki komposisi wajah kurang dari 70%. Kebetulan saya membawa gunting, penggaris dll untuk antisipasi kejadian macam ini. Dalam hal ini, saya menggunakan foto dengan latar belakang putih;
  • Paspor yang masih berlaku (berlaku paling tidak hingga 3 bulan setelah visa Schengen habis masa berlakunya);
  • Fotokopi halaman paspor dengan data pribadi pemegang paspor. Pemohon juga harus punya fotokopi paspornya sendiri. --> karena paspor asli anda akan dikirim (yang ngirim kantor Konsulat Belanda) ke Kedutaan Besar Belanda di Jakarta (kurang lebih 10 hari kerja);
  • Reservasi penerbangan yang telah dikonfirmasi. Ini bukan tiket. Tiket baru dapat dibeli setelah visa disetujui. --> karena saya mendapat beasiswa Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP), segala sesuatunya sudah diurus pihak Belanda jadi saya hanya melampirkan print out e-ticket yang dikirim dari travel agent Belanda ke saya;

KOP Surat

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Number: 1234/ Venus/ 2013

This is to confirm that:

N a m e         : Natalie Portman
Place/ Date of Birth : Venus, June 31st 2013

Head of Venus Group Corp.

The Boss

  • Bukti kemampuan keuangan yang harus ditunjukkan: slip gaji 3 bulan terakhir/ fotokopi rekening bank/ buku tabungan 3 bulan terakhir. --> sekali lagi, karena saya mendapat beasiswa NFP dan segala sesuatunya sudah diurus pihak Belanda jadi saya mensubstitusi ketentuan ini dengan melampirkan Fellowship Award Letter dimana terdapat apa saja yang ditanggung oleh NFP secara rinci;
  • Asuransi perjalanan dengan pertanggungan minimal € 30.000,- yang berlaku untuk seluruh wilayah Schengen, termasuk biaya medis dan repatriasi. Asuransi dilampirkan pada saat pengajuan aplikasi visa. --> kebetulan asuransi juga sudah diurus oleh NFP dan sertifikatnya juga sudah dikirim ke saya. (FYI: asuransi yang saya dapat adalah asuransi AON berjenis student insurance);
  • Kartu Keluarga

Dilengkapi dengan:

Untuk kunjungan pribadi/ pariwisata
  • Jika menginap di hotel: reservasi hotel yang telah dikonfirmasi untuk seluruh periode. --> dengan kondisi saya, dari 9 dokumen sebelumnya saya juga melengkapinya dengan bukti reservasi hotel;
  • Jika menginap di rumah orang: undangan dari keluarga/ teman yang dilegalisasi oleh pemerintah kotamadya (GEMEENTE);
  • Fotokopi paspor dan/ kartu identitas dari pihak sponsor/ keluarga yang akan dikunjungi;
  • Bila dibiayai dari pengundang di Belanda: slip gaji/ bukti pendapatan 3 bulan terakhir;

  • Undangan dari perusahaan di Belanda yang menjelaskan hubungan pemohon dan pengundang dan informasi tujuan kunjungan serta pihak mana yang akan membiayai perjalanan dan hotel;
  • Reservasi hotel yang telah dikonfirmasi.

Anak-anak dibawah umur (dibawah 18 tahun)
  • Bila anak berpergian tanpa orangtuanya, harus ada persetujuan tertulis dari kedua orangtua yang telah dilegalisir oleh notaris. Dapat juga dilakukan di depan petugas konsuler di Konsulat;
  • Bukti hak asuh anak dan akta perceraian (bila orang tua bercerai);
  • Akta kelahiran asli dari anak + fotokopi;
  • Fotokopi paspor/ kartu identitas dari kedua orang tua.

Persyaratan keuangan
  • Pemohon visa yang membiayai perjalanannya sendiri harus punya minimal € 34 per hari;

Selamat mencoba!

On The Path to Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya, International Recognition

Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya, was built to support national development in several industries through creating competent professionals from any disciplines related to technology and art. The five faculties which play significant role in Indonesian improvement are faculty of mathematics and science, faculty of industry, faculty of civil and planning, faculty of marine technology, and faculty of informatics. In 2012, over four thousand applicants at ITS, approximately only 50% of total applicants are accepted, and about three thousand number of students are graduated from ITS each year (http://www.its.ac.id/). This circumstance illustrates how either widely known ITS as a choice in further education or huge contribution in generating experts in Indonesia.

In accordance with a vision to be an innovative international reputable university, ITS enhances its performance to be considered in a global competition. Achievements such as winning several international competitions concerning science, innovation and arts, broaden its existence in education. My point of view about fast-track program at ITS is that the curriculum surely could develop education level with the increasing number of masters and doctors in Indonesia. Moreover, by becoming member of AUN/SEED-NET (ASEAN University Network/Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network), and two preceding examples have advantages which I divide into two categories, internal and external. First, for internal ITS, those latest achievements and programs would give improvement particularly in quality of education including teaching, research, service, experiences and so forth. Secondly, for external ITS, those condition could attract students either local or international to study at ITS.

To be an international reputable university means that civitas academica and all committees in the campus organizational structure altogether are globally aware of being involved in international activities. In my opinion, several ways to be worldwide recognized are expands our understanding and make contribution to the world. As a result, ITS was ranked 583rd of world university ranking and was on the top 100 Asian universities, and placed at the fourth rank in Indonesia (http://www.webometrics.info/en/world). According to this fact, Indonesian universities need more development. As a reputable institute of technology in Indonesia, ITS could be the pioneer of website development. In the information age, internet as a universal network makes information become easily accessible through computer technology. Thus, with the purpose of goes global, I believe that university improvement in term of education, research along with innovation, and participation in international competition, would be a reliable strategy.

Globalize educational services offered by ITS is the beginning step towards world class university. Curriculum adjustments with current needs are important, because I think that knowledge is always expanding due to problems. Exploring problems which Indonesia is currently facing together with learning modern technology from developing countries, would be good basis in building syllabus that expected to provide solutions. Bilateral relationship with international universities supposed to become main concern. The connections between ITS and each universities uphold globally linked one and another. Then, Indonesia gradually gets international recognition. I desire an international program at ITS, by considering its competency and network, I am in no doubt this program would come true. Begin with one department or faculty which is supported by capable lecturers and administration committees especially in their English proficiency.

Focus research on problems that are global interest encourages ITS to become an international research university. Research issues are not only global interest, but also could be useful especially to society. Laboratory Based Education (LBE), one of presently programs that support self-learning (Beranda ITS-Edisi 07, 2012), facilitates students to study independently which aims to increase productivity in research and innovation. Students and their supervisor are accustomed to research habit and hopefully increase their responsiveness of crisis. I assume that several rules in each department related to LBE are needed. For example, a rule for students who work on their undergraduate thesis have to be a member of laboratory. As a result, students could use facilities of laboratory such as computer, internet, book references and so forth. Government, in this case is ministry of national education, has important role as well, by launching an e-journal that provide articles from ITS students. This policy stimulates them to produce well qualified articles in technology, science and arts. Hence, people from both inside and outside ITS can access.

Participation in international activities, including research and some competitions, has to be well managed. Related to number of research published in international journal, I consider that ITS needs to create internal research consortium which focus on managing research from each faculty and propose them into international journal. This consortium consists of experts or lecturers from any disciplines who represent their faculty. On the other hand, an approach to increase participation in international competitions is educates lecturers and trainers about the important of join those challenge both academic and non-academic activities. Therefore, I believe they could supervise students and would create a mental foundation of each student to be a winner.

In term of “ITS goes global”, it associates all necessary aspect includes students, lecturers, committees, network, affiliation, facilities, etc. Rector and government as policy maker are expected to support this term by initiating policies such as advisory board or managing alumni groups in order to enlarge global network. Current achievements ought to use as modal to go international and strengthen ITS competency. Internal potential development is a basis which needs motivation from each individual. All in all, national recognition drives ITS to international recognition.

Pantai Lombang (Lombang Beach), Madura, East Java, Indonesia

Pantai Lombang (Lombang Beach) has beautiful soft white sand and clear shallow water. It’s located in the eastern of Madura island and about 1 hour drive from Pamekasan city (4 hours drive from Surabaya). You can fantasize this beach is yours, because it is quietly empty. What I am trying to say is that only few people came here. I think it is because Lombang beach hasn’t well-known yet, or might because I visited here not on holiday season (I still need more information about this).

You can do everything you want here. You can laugh.

pratidinatri.blogspot.com

You can ride a horse (it was only 10,000 rupiahs per 15 minutes! Compared to Nusa Dua Beach, it costs 100,000 rupiahs per 30 minutes!).

If you’re too afraid of riding horse by yourself, you can ask the man to guide you. :)

You can run, swim, playing sand.

Or you can fly.

You also possible to go mad.

You can climb the tree.

You can taste a natural coconut. It only costs 3,000 rupiahs.

Personally, Lombang Beach is the best place to spend our leisure time. The environment was very clean. Beautiful scenery would accompany your journey towards the Lombang beach and the people were very nice. But, I suggest you to leave before getting dark, because it would be hard to find restaurant when you hungry, or motor services in case you have problems with your vehicle, and considering the traffic to Surabaya. You have to aware of criminal issues in Madura as well. But, if you want to spend the night at Lombang beach, there were 2 or 3 traditional cottages nearby could be considered. :)

Karapan Sapi (Bull Race), Madura, East Java, Indonesia

Once a year in the middle of October, at the land named Madura, there is a famous traditional event called Karapan Sapi which means a Bull Race. This event has attracted many tourists either domestic or foreigner each year. Stadion R. Soenarto Hadiwidjojo Pamekasan, is where the race usually take place. It is about 2 to 3 hours drive from Surabaya (through Jembatan Suramadu). For your information, Stadion means Stadium and the race start at 9 in the morning.

pratidinatri.blogspot.com

Do not ever think that you can sit under the roof, because that kind of place is only for government/ embassy representatives and of course bull’s owner. You have to deal with the crowd who speak in traditional language. I think some of them could speak in Bahasa, however, their accent is little bit hard to understand (this is only my opinion :p). Lots of local society attended this event, surely they made a bet which bull would be the winner (President's Cup race). The bulls raced very fast! So, I don’t have many pictures to share.

pratidinatri.blogspot.com

Bull’s jockey was just a kid. He controlled bull’s move and speed. Well, actually I have no idea what exactly he has done to the bull. -_-"
The saddest thing of this race for me is watching (how to say this?) bull’s ass pain. The jockey hit bull’s ass with pecut to make it faster and faster. From bull race to bloody race.*Sigh

pratidinatri.blogspot.com

That’s all folks. I close this story with some tips, hope it might be useful:
  1. Check the date and ticket price of the event by calling Kementerian Pariwisata, (I'm so sorry, I've lost the number);
  2. Arrive at least 1 hour before the event start. Considering the traffic condition, because there would be lots of government/ embassy representative’s bus plus their security;
  3. Things you should bring: umbrella, drinking water, snacks, camera, cash (not too much);
  4. Things you should wear: sun block, hat, sun glasses;
  5. Go to Pantai Lombang (Lombang Beach http://pratidinatri.blogspot.com/2011/10/pantai-lombang-lombang-beach-madura.html as soon as you’ve gotten bored with bull’s stuffs. :p

Senam Jari Para Bassist

Things to do:
  2. Coba baca tab berikut : (semoga ga bingung)

G|| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |.......dst sampe pojok, notok..!! : p
D|| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
A|| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
E|| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |

Namanya tab chromatic, nomor 1 = jari telunjuk, 2 = jari terlarang (jari tengah), 3 = jari manis, 4 = jari kelingking..

Cukup sekian postingan kali ini, dikarenakan banyaknya hambatan "mati listrik mulu", maklum ngenet gratis di lab komputer lantai 4 jurusan, lagi ujan, listrik up and down gitu lah.. hehehe.. mau pulang juga, dah malem, semoga bermanfaat yaa..

Inget pesan om Flea "try the slow one"
hehe..

Thx

Tips Merawat Ban Mobil

Pengalaman pribadi: saya pernah membeli ban mobil 1 per 1, merknya pun berbeda.
